Types of Sun Eclipse

During the Eclipse of the Sun, we can see that some portions of the Sun’s surface are covered by the Moon.

There are three types of Sun eclipses.

PARTIAL ECLIPSE OF THE SUNPhotobucket

A partial Eclipse of the Sun happens when only a part of the Sun can be seen. Only a part of the Sun is blocked by the Moon. This partial eclipse lasts from a few minutes to a few hours.

TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE SUNPhotobucket

When the Sun is totally covered by the Moon, the total Eclipse of the Sun occurs.

When this happens, we onli see the Sun as a dark disc surrounded by a bright ring called the corona.

Only certain parts of the Earth will experience total Eclipse of the Sun.

ANNUAL ECLIPSE OF THE SUNPhotobucket

If the Moon’s unbral shadow does not reach the Earth, an annular eclipse occurs.

The total Eclipse of the Sun can last from a few seconds to a few minutes.
